Glenn Rogers Linedance -Dispelling The Myth
In a time when disinformation seems to be the order of the day, Glenn Rogers, once again, is the first to set the record straight!
Glenn remains the top linedance act throughout the UK and much of Europe. In the past year his dance albums have gained growing interest in the USA where there appears to be a resurgence of interest in country based line dance. As is all too often the case, artists of Glenn's quality are percieved as 'unreachable' or too expensive for the circuit at large. In some cases agents and promoters deliberately inflate the fees of the better artists in order to create opportunity for the lesser known or lesser able acts. In the past, politics have dictated that those top drawer artists didn't have a voice of their own and, typically in-keeping with his persona, Glenn may be the first to break down those barriers and tell it like it is. Material: Glenn Rogers entered the linedance scene as a country music performer! His vast experience and background made it possible for him to adapt his act and style to fit absolutely any music genre. Glenn has always been, and remains, able to tailor his show to fit his audience. Few, if any, other acts are able to pull on a wealth of knowledge that enables dancers to enjoy the latest, top 20, dances to alternative music. In other words, if your dances prefer country music, Glenn will deliver a country music show without the need to drop the current dances from the sheet. It was exactly this approach that made Glenn such a huge success. Dancers could attend a social with their non-dancing partner safe in the knowledge that the non-dancers would be equally entertained. The Rob Fowler Connection: There was a time where bookers and promoters were led to believe that Glenn worked exclusively with, and promoted only, Rob Fowler dances. Rob remains a close friend of Glenn's, as do many of the worlds best choreographers. Glenn has worked with, and produced music for, Rob, Maggie, Robbie McH, Kate Sala, Max Perry, Peter & Alison, Chrissie Hodgson, Michael Vera Lobos, Jo Thompson, Roy Verdonk, Ed Lawton, Paul Macadam and just about every world class Linedance choreographer you can think of. Rob Fowlers innovation of creating dedicated recordings did a great deal to promote linedance, of all genres, to a wider audience and Glenn was very proud to have played a part in that. Fees: This has been the biggest shock to us of all. So many people have been under the impression that Glenn Rogers is unaffordable that we have recently undertaken our own survey of fee's. For many years the marketing side of Glenns business was handled by outside agents, and they did a great job in the early years. Unfortunately some, not all, eventually become ambitious or greedy on the back of success, and we have seen a vast influx of new talent into a circuit that is not expanding. The 'value for money' factor of many of these new acts can only be justified by inflating the fee's of the established acts beyond their value. Yes, we all have to deal with increasing fuel costs but in many cases Glenn's fee's have been quoted at almost double what he actually feels he is worth. We took a cross section of 5 of the most 'popular' solo linedance acts available today and found that Glenn's fee's were, in fact, often LESS than most! If you run a club or event within 200 miles of London and have been quoted more than £375 for Glenn you should contact us or your agent immediately.
